Still trying to make the switch to mostly cordless tools, slowly but surely lol. I’m ready to get a new sawzall, but not sure if i want to go with Milwaukees m18 or m12. I’m leaning towards m12 because I really don’t need one often, I’m not using it for professional use. Anyone have any troubles with either of them that i should know of? Thanks boys.

Since you mention the M12, are you only looking at the hackzall? M18 is the only one with a sawzall, just terminology, hackzall or sawzall they are both reciprocating saws.

M12 non fuel hackzall is nice and small but breaks easily.
M12 fuel hackzall is great, more powerful and durable.
M18 non fuel hackzall, the M12 fuel is equivalent to it but the M18 is bigger.
M18 fuel hackzall is great.
M18 non fuel sawzall, isnt bad, but dated.
M18 fuel sawzall is great
M18 fuel super sawzall is phenominal

Only 7 choices that simplifies things lol

The one hand tools have shorter blade stroke and weaker motors. If need a real demolition saw, you want the two handed sawsall.

My apologies, always heard them called sawzalls lol. But thanks for the knowledge! I’m thinking the m12 fuel is the route I’ll go ultimately.

Just FYI everyone i know who has to used the m12 duke hazkal says it’s great for little things but over all the m18 fuel or non fuel seems to be the best overall if you can only have one and if the m12 wouldn’t be for a specific reason

I have a non-Fuel M18, and use it exclusively. I can't remember the last time I had my corded one out. It's particularly handy around our property for branches that are too big for the loppers, but not worth fueling up the chainsaw for. I also use it to cut structural steel like channel and angle. Much faster than a horizontal bandsaw, and I can carry it in the truck to use at the local scrap yard to cut a piece down to fit in the truck.

I have a M12 hackzall & an M18 sawzall . If you put a Diablo carbide blade on the M18 you can saw roots in the dirt without trashing a saw chain, The m12 works good for smaller jobs but for demo go with the 18V

Roughly, how long continuous cutting do you (generally) get out of a charged battery ? When I was contracting it was one pain in the *** to get a corded Sawzall setup on a roof or site without util power.

I really like the M18 fuel hackzall. With a 9.0 battery it balances perfectly. I've gotten a full afternoon of trimming trees out of it with battery to spare.
