I have several screw-shooters and would like to service the gear case. My owner manual calls for Milwaukee Type E grease. I've looked it up and find it's seems expensive @ $30 #. I've tried to cross reference the grease to other manufactures/brands with no luck. Any ideas/help here??
Thanks, T

You might as well just buy the genuine grease.
Most power tool manufacturers use specific grease, sometimes across a large number of tool models, and sometimes specific to individual tools, but the grease is/was usually chosen for durable performance, and it’s likely one of the things that ensures long term reliability and longevity.
One older European made power tool I have listed multiple alternative greases compatible for use, if the user/repairer couldn’t get the manufacturer’s own grease, and every single one of the alternatives was some obscure specialty grease.

According to the safety data sheet, Type E is largely refined mineral oil with a thickener and amber in color.
Milwaukees Grease Standard Chart identifies it as a NLGI-1 and EP.

I would have no problems sleeping at night using Mobilux EP1 which has the same base and consistency.
