Did Milwaukee just kill the air hammer?

I can see immense value in a salvage yard, on the side of the road or breaking into a locked facility if it works as advertised.

Seems to be one of the hottest topics on You Tube today

I'll wait for the Torque Test Channel Review

I will wait for Snap On to make one and charge $1,500 bare tool just to show that $600 is "cheap".

I'm also going to wait for HF to offer their copy for below $300 in a kit... That one I might actually buy.

I'm worried about what air hammer they benchmarked. There are some really sucky normal ones (high bpm). The long barrel ones from SO, CP, or Sunex are hitters. It's one of those tools where your day is going to **** when you run out of oomph.

It took awhile but seemed inevitable. I always said the two tools cordless will never replace are paint spray guns and air hammers. Seems we might be down to only one if this works.
They have electric paint guns. Milwaukee tho will never make a Sata or Iwata level spray gun. Maybe a 3m accuspray replacement.

Your cordless rotary hammer has been hitting like a short barrel to medium barrel air hammer for years :D
An SDS+ hits like a short barrel. An SDS-Max hits a whole lot harder. This is something in between. Honestly, 7 joules is kind of a sweet spot here, being similar to my beloved CP717, though still a whole lot chunkier.

No way an SDS Max gets close to a CP717, joules are another useless spec.
10 joules is what a strike with a 6oz hammer would be. Try removing a ball joint with a 6oz hammer.

I want one badly enough I might just have to get a red tool to sit next to my yellow ones.

I'm glad this finally came to market - I saw no reason why there couldn't be an air-hammer replacement. I understand Milwaukee patented something - but there's nothing magical about the mechanics to generate hammer force.

Very interesting but probably won't fit where my PH3050 fits when doing Subaru wheel bearings.

I still want it though.

I got a m18 rotary hammer last year on a discount. Used it a few times for basic still like drilling into concrete to make holes for anchors. I never thought about getting some hammer sds + bits to use. Who makes good ones? Maybe I’ll find a use for them someday for lower power work since honestly I already got this rotary hammer and I need a rotary hammer for concrete drilling so mine as well make it a more useful tool if I can tbh
