So my supersawzall 6538-21 has decided to be crappy while cutting a light piece of wooden fence. Its sparking at the brushes. I broke it down and checked the brushes, they look ok, but the armature looks bad at one spot.
Probably hard to see in the photo. There was a small piece of sand or metal caught in one of the grooves. I cleaned it out but there is some blackening of some wires, looks like some of the wire covering is disturbed and the contact is rough under that spot. After more cleaning I put it back together and still have this:

Is this dead or can the armature be repaired? A new one is $65 from ereplacementparts.com, literally the most expensive thing on the saw. I bought it used so no warranty. Suggestions?
