Strange how life throws you a curve ball just when you least expect it, Yesterday I stopped by a garage sale and I thought even before I got out of the car woody this place is very expensive you are not going to find much in the way of tools, but that man had Vintage tools from the 1920's & 1930's out the wazoo. I can only cringe at what I had missed because I was chasing after other garage sales before coming to his sale.

MTF was started back in 1917 and they went up to the early 1930's I will leave you with two very nice links for a full and complete History to look at. Just another great tool company for you to keep your eyes open for in your tool hunts.

I have a few of their tools, and a Motor Specialties pair of pliers.

I love MTF tools and hunt them rabidly. Method to the madness: I'm trying to show physical evidence of all the connections between the Milwaukee companies of the day (Snap-On, MTF, Husky, etc.)

I'd also be interested to see if anyone else has an example of MTF, Snappy or Husky handles forged by Harris-Thomas, another Milwaukee player from whom I have a Husky ratchet handle bearing their forge mark.

As always Woody, good thread!

Ricky Joe.............we should get together and do some horse-trading!!

Sometimes you have to be careful for what you ask for. This is the pouch that is shown on the AA site.

Cool selection. Those sockets look so much like Snap-On that MTF could have been the vendor for SO sockets. I have a different screwdriver with a taped up busted handle.
I've believed that for a while. As a minimum, I think they supplied the early socket blanks.

Ole Slew I went through an old catalog from twertsy's web-site (only catalog he had) and it had no chisel products; so at this time I am in the dark. Not saying they did not make it only saying I could not find any examples to compare it with. Wish I could give you a better answer.

Unfortunately those cats are hard to come by. The one I have on the site is not even the full catalog, just a supplement. See the Pic, that announcement is from 1927 so they certainly made (or at least "sold") them.

I tried to get up with you some time back. I have been getting rid of tools for a while now, ever since my heart attack. I would probably give you the tools you care about. I have found outlets for my rare Snap-On and my everyday Snap-On, and some of my vintage car stuff. I sold Adrianboomer the Craftsman stuff from the thirties. I collected for forty years, but age and wisdom dictate the end of the line for me. Ask and he may receive!

You wouldn't happen to be unloading any Plomb pebble stuff would you? :)

They are listed in hardware age and such as in the punch and chisel business, even a couple ads referenced I cant get past snippet view. they font seems appropriate, and searching for 'MTF Chisel" didn't lead me to any other maker.

The heat treat instructions baked on certainly rules out modern production.

Do the ones in the cat resemble the cape one a few posts back?

You guys have a lot more patience and perseverance than I do. Looking at threads like this, you're collecting stuff that I've thrown in the scrap metal bin forever.
Do you still have your scrap bin? [emoji25]

No, they would be stamped "Milwaukee Blue Points"

Usually a 5 gallon bucket or two in the shop, throw scrap metal in it, old shocks, brake rotors, parts, scrap tools, broken bolts, chinese sockets etc. If I take scrap down to the yard, or scrap out a car, I throw in the bucket with the rest. Last batch I got $8.34 at the yard. Haven't done any substantial amount of old tools recently, now I try to sell on ebay first. Threw away 50 pieces of P&C that wouldn't sell a couple of months ago, but fished them out and moved them this week. I had to move from one rental to another while my house is getting completed, I put aside a couple thousand pounds of stuff to ebay next winter. Rescued the P&C and threw them in with the rest while I was moving them.

Figuring out what is collectible and what is just old iron is the hard part. Now I just put it on ebay, if it doesn't sell in 3 tries, I junk it. I have been putting them on there, for the most part prior to junking them.

Found a scrap tool bucket today clearing out garage. Here's the typical junk that goes to scrap.

No, they would be stamped "Milwaukee Blue Points"

But isn't your catalog MTF? Or is it the BluePoint, manufactured by MTF version? My bet is the ones they sold under the MTF flag weren't branded with bluepoints. Can you see the branding/stamp in the catalog?

That's a terrific ignition set, twertsy.

I own a grand total of two (2) Milwaukee Tool and Forge tools.

A 7/16 x 1/2 engineers wrench caked in dry cosmolene and a 1/2-inch square drive swivel socket with a 6-point 5/8" service opening marked "MTF" and "FS 20." What's the age of the swivel socket?

How are you connecting them? Pics are tough to see. MTF was Lectrolite by 1932, and MAC didn't exist until 1938.

Todd, I certainly stand corrected. I must have had a senior moment or made that up in a dream. Thank you, sir!

Well, I now have a grant total of three (3) Milwaukee Tool & Forge company tools! If there was a 'poster child' for collecting a set of tools from a vintage mfgr one piece at a time, MTF would be a good candidate for me. :) I just hardly ever see them, and when I do, it's always one piece at a time. To wit, this machined socket with a 12-point 3/4" service opening and the classic "MTF" monograph logo, picked up at the flea market this morning...

I was perusing some tools from a vendor at the flea with one of those big box trucks. He had a few tools out and I had already bought some stuff when I had the where with all to ask 'got any more tools on the truck'? He came out with a few more boxes of stuff. I found a few good things in the extras, but most interesting was this, only slightly twisted, MTF 3/4" drive extension. Someone had to put some real torque onto this thing at some point.
Marked Milwaukee True Fit Tool and Forge.

That's a cool 'tweener piece. Harkens back to the early detachable era, just after pressed steel, and just before hot forged, when extensions had square shanks with forged sockets with female ends press-fit or welded on the other end.
