Well I think that should be a nice post for everyone to write down his opinion or preference between these 4; Everyone who'd like to throw other names in the game ,feel free to do as you wish.

But between these who would you choose in terms of all-around functionality . Let's say actually the characteristics of the tool or company's warranty and service department.

I personally would go with Milwaukee or Facom.

I have a 10 year old Makita 18V drill that is still going strong. OK, well one battery is dead, and the other doesn't last very long, but the drill itself is still fine.

I only have experience with dewalt and Milwaukee on hand grinders at work we had Milwaukee until they started to burn up after 3-4 years of hard work. They then was replaced with dewalts and they are burning up after 3-4 weeks of the same work. Milwaukee won't warranty theres because we took the shields off. We haven't even bothered with the dewalts.

Well I think that the week spot of many of **** kind of tools ,is the batteries . We had many of these in my old work , but a Makita one and a Facom we had also had same problem as yours with the battery.

But I think other that the energy supply problem these two offer sturdy tools and I believe the Facom's """lifetime""" warranty kind of does the trick for most of us.

What? Are you taking them to a local service center? Ship to a repair center if so, I doubt they'll say a word about missing shields -- I assume you mean disc guards?

Makita for my impact and drill/impact. Milwaukee for sawzal and pipe cutter.

Most often my issue is the battery. But my Makita impact has had an extremely rough life and it is still going strong. I have personally ran maybe a million screws with it. For everything. From installing 2 screws per edge on an old plank subfloor to reinforce it, to driving 6" roofing screws. Best I can guess is buckets and buckets (maybe 50) of screws in its 10 year life time. Still on the original Japan batteries. My china version batteries that came with the drill died already. Dropped it 30' off a roof once,, hit brick pavers below. I though it was a goner. Bit driver bent, and other than character marks, it still worked. Use it for automotive from time to time. Looks very used with all the rubbery decorative trim missing, but it is still my favorite impact. Better than the flimsy trigger milwaukee or delay start hilti.

Makita cordless skill saw. I forgot the size of the blade, its small. Put fine tooth blade on it, and it has been super reliable. Even cuts quite nice. It was a free gift when I bought my Makita impact. Best free tool I ever received.

I'll go in for makita I've been running them professionally for ~5 years and have yet to have any type of failure. You certainly can't beat the expansive line and with all the new releases this past year they are offering several top of the class tools.

We took it to the local hardware store witch it was bought and they sent it off. Milwaukee sent us a letter saying warranty was voided.
