Milwaukee's New Tool Introductions This Year Sort of ****

Normally, we get a whole load of new tools from Milwaukee at their big party in Milwaukee every year but with Covid and all this year it's all virtual and I completely understand that. Problem is the tools that have been introduced this year sort of well basically ****. A couple of foot pounds of more torque and the small and midsize impacts and maybe they have a better LED. That's not going to have me throw away any of my previous models. There is nothing new or revolutionary that's been introduced that a normal tool user would be excited about. For example, how many ******* lights can you possibly need? The only thing I've seen that I'm even slightly interested in is their new vacuum cleaner.

I was hoping for an M12 or better yet M18 file belt sander like I-R and Matco have: NOTHING. On the automotive side they've introduced nothing like the underhood light or the long neck ratchets they did last year. All in all a pretty ****** year I'd say.

Yeah, I'd say underwhelming overall if you are interested primarily in automotive service tools. On the positive side, I'd say the laser levels and the new M12 Rover repair and service flood light look to be well executed in their designs.

Completely agree.

They read the Internet chatter. They know exactly what people like, don’t like, want to see, etc.

Their response?

5th gen Sawzalls, 9th gen bandsaws, and 55th gen impacts

Although very margin-friendly, it’s all been lazy, low priority updates IMHO. They can do so much better.

Yeah it was too soon new gens on models, lights, and vacuums. Anything new was either crazy pro tools I don't need, useless IMHO hatchet, M18 weak power thingy. Plus they prices of new things keep getting more outrageous.

Any successful company is treating the pandemic as an unprecedented occurrence. They are not going to do the same things as in years past.

I'm really curious what your expectations were given the current conditions. I'm sure they might have new designs and ideas, but getting them made is going to be next to impossible.
