i am a member on many forums and most have rules to pst in classifieds. i see there are some that joined to use classifieds and then dissapear. how about a 50 post min or 6 months, whichever comes first. that way it will make people contribute and help, instead of using your bandwidth to push there goods.

I think we have a pretty good group of Sellers and Buyers here at GJ. I havent noticed any problems, Most of the New people who do sell show references and or are friends of Members who normally give the lowdown on the New guy.

Not knocking any new guys but it seems like its always members that just showed up that are wanting to implement new classifieds rules. I cant recall anyone getting ripped off here even from guys that join just to sell of course its possible but so far its not broke so why fix it.

Diesel is right, I just don't get people I guess. When joining a new forum the last thing on my mind is trying to change things, it rubs people the wrong way and generally gets you no where.

It's like the people who move to Florida who feel the need to change things so they can feel more at home, well if their prior home was so great why did they move here. I usually remind them that 95 goes both ways.

this suggestion is/was intended to be looked at as cost saving for the forum owner. not to rub people the wrong way so they lose sleep at night:lol_hitti
wasnt tryin to rub anybody the wrong way. i had noticed when i was cruisin through the ads that there were some items that had no prices or locations listed. some ads had responses that asked how much or where? and there was no response from seller. was just a suggestion, as these rules are on many forums to protect its current members from being ripped by turds, that use a forum owners bandwidth for free without ever contributing anything to the forum. I noticed that there were 28,682 members with 0 posts, and then there is another 8,000 members with less than 5 posts. There is only 42k members total. Just seems like a lot of storage used for nothing. Just trying to save someone some money, flame away.

I'm sure the owner of the site appreciates your concern about his financial well being but as Diesel has already stated, your ideas are nothing new, if the owner wanted rules in the classified section they would be in place, he's not exactly naive about this stuff, the HAMB is his also. As far as "being ripped by turds", it doesn't happen on this site, maybe the other forums you visit attract a lot of turds. No sleep lost here, while I think it's in bad taste to walk into someones house and start proposing rules I don't care either way but other members do, look at some of the deals that were posted by new members. Yup, they made money by using the sites bandwidth but members also got a good deal on whatever they bought, that's the main reason many members are against a minimum post count.

Look at the Secret Santa thread, I don't know how many members participated but as far as I know nobody who took part screwed anyone, same as last year. This site is different than any site I've been on, I've seen members GIVE tools to other members, I've sold stuff to a member who didn't have the money at the time, I still shipped it and got paid for it.
