I've been researching all the different mineral wool batts and isn't mineral wool mineral wool? Sounds like a marketing ploy to me.

Not necessarily. My understanding is that slag wool is an inferior product that is still "mineral".

The safe n sound doesn't have an R value but if you research it you'll see the manufacturer says it has an R value of 11.7 for 3 in.

Which is just a touch under the comfort batt. The difference between these two Roxul products is that SafeNSound is much more compressed. So, there's more product in a batt, which is why it costs more.
