You're talking tubes as in toothpaste style tubes (not cylinders)?
There are pliers like squeeze devices meant to dispense from these. Look up Tube Grip.

I got this gun a number of years ago with some 5oz. tubes of Permatex no. 29208 Right Stuff gasket maker in black. The tubes measure 5.25" not including spout.

Ah. I've never seen a cylindrical tube in that size. So would this work in a regular 10oz caulk gun, with a bunch of wasted space in the back? And that's basically just a regular caulk gun, with a shorter barrel? Or is this a different diameter too?

The Permatex tubes look to be 2" diameter, same as standard 10oz. tubes, so I don't see why not.

I thought everyone just used these in regular caulk guns which is what I've always done
Dave, what did you use the "Right Stuff" on ?
I'm building a engineand checked outtheir video on youtube and looked great. Buton a engine forum most guys saidif you want a perment fix, ok but if you want to remove that part, it may distroy it. A couple said they bent their valve cover and timing cover trying to remove them. One broke a end off his intake manifold. eek !
I hate it when sellers on ebay advertise a product for a lower price of a product to get you to look, then the shiping is 2-3 times higher !

never seen he shorter ones before, I will have to look for them. I always waist the bigger tubes.

It's been a while but I believe I used it to seal a diff cover on an axle on my old GMC pickup. It came as part of a kit with 2 or 3 tubes and the gun, I bought it at cost when I used to work at Carquest.
I bought the smaller tube to try out in building my newest engine, so I was courious if there was a small gun rather than the normal longer cumbersome size. I'm sure it will aid in laying down a better, smoother and consistant bead of silicone on larger parts like oil pans, but also on most other parts.
