I'm guessing more. That back axles with the wheels and tires has to be about around 600lbs.

very cool! I work at a mine site and get to see these trucks daily, the scale is hard to imagine until you are up close to one.

I did a tour of the Euclid plant in Guelph many years ago. I can't agree more, they are monsters!

Looks like a mod merged the two together. If you look at some of the post titles you’ll they’re called scale mini mining truck build. They were separate this morning when I posted the link.

Whomever combined my threads, thank you. I had completely forgot that I started a new one all those years ago. I thought I was still posting about it in the dozerbuilder thread.
Making some progress on the frame. It's basically divided into three sections.
Back third will be the diesel tank and it will sit pretty much between the rear tires. I forget capacity right now but maybe 3-4 gallons? Middle third will be where the engine sits. And the front third will be the cab.
I've been trying to take video to eventually put together some build episodes. And I haven't been so good at taking pictures. Overall, I get such little time in the garage, I'd rather build things than set up camera shots. Much respect for guys like This Old Tony and Clickspring to name a few that put together such nice videos.
So with that being said, here's a few random pictures of the progress.
I'm currently working on the engine cradle.
Oh, and I got a front axle. It's a dana 30 from a Jeep at my brother's house. I cut the ends off and I plan to make a solid axle. Yes, Jeep made a beam axle for 2wd Cherokees but they are kind of hard to find. So I'll just pick up a piece od 2.5" tubing and make my own. I plan to use a hydroboost master cylinder to power the front brakes.

Bummer. I am to late to the party. I have a 2wd comanche that has that beam front end you want.
Need anything else jeep? I have lots of stuff. Why not make it 4wd?

BTW, build looks amazing so far. I loved the little dozer build to. I would love to make all sorts of mini toys like this. Unfortunately by the time I get around to doing all of it the kids will be grown up and moved out.

Small update. I continue to have some pretty good momentum. I'm going to need to catch up on sleep soon though...…
Here's an upside down view of the frame. This section is the rear suspension mount, engine cradle and lift cylinder support structure. Why did I make it out of round tubing you ask? Because I've never made anything out of round tubing and it was fun to design and challenging to figure out all of the bends, miters and cope angles. And it was a challenge to weld the round tubing. As with all things I do, I try to make it a learning experience as well.
I went ahead and test fit the engine to make sure I didn't miss something in the design.
Yes, I do know that I need a new exhaust manifold. Ebay has one that exits parallel/towards the rear of the engine Over all, I'm happy with it. Decent access to everything (just have to have the bed up)
I need to make motor mounts but I think I may move onto the rear axle. I'd like to get this thing sitting on wheels and tires by the end of the year.
That is all for now. This thing is ridiculous.

Little bit more progress. Got the rear end mounted. Nothing fancy. Just a swing arm type suspension with a track bar and Monroe air shocks for adjusting ride height. I forgot to take pictures without the wheels and tires on because I was excited to see what it would look like with them on.
I started working on the front axle. I should have this thing as a roller with an engine mounted in it by the end of the year.

I do not. I’ve just been leaving it bare metal. May spray it down with wd40 at some point.

Both will drive it but the axle will act like an open differential. However, with a full load and some wet grass or loose ground, I suppose it may want to push. However, as mentioned below, I don’t own a construction site and this won’t see regular use like that. Mostly just plan to take it to shows. I’m really just having fun building it. It doesn’t have much purpose otherwise.

If you look at one of my earlier posts on the axle build, you can see that I have two hydraulic motors built into the axle. And the engine im using has hydraulic pumps attached to it. So it will be hydraulically driven.
