I don't have a spare $500, but if I did, I would grab this forklift, assuming it isn't trashed. Only 29" wide...don't know much else about it. Might come in handy, and not take up much space when not in use! What do you think?

That would work great, if its in good condition. For less than $500 there should be some "Big Joes" that can lift 750 to 1000 lbs., though. They use less parking space and require less maintenance than a real fork lift. My lift is a 52 in lift two wheeled dolly with a 500 lb rating. It's certainly more work than a fork lift, but it does 95% of my heavy lifting while an engine hoist takes care of the rest. There is some rigging involved, but I'm capable.

Bull , that looks like an old Clark, a top of the line brand. It prolly has a small Continental engine , if you need engine parts , they are available at Montes eq. in Chicago , tune up stuff is at Napa ...I'd have that in a hot minute if it was near me , I always have to get the neighbor kid to help me lift things , , that would sure help both our backs !!

Actually if anyone in NE Ohio and Western Pa is interested we have an old Clarklift to sell. It's bigger than that but probably a perfect size for a pole barn. Propane powered ran good last time we used it. PM me and I'll see about a price

Bull, I bought a fork lift two years ago even though I did not want to spend the money.
After having done that, all I can say is do it!!!
They are unbelievablY useful.
And if it brakes down you'll get your money back just by scrapping it.

Fellas, I am really not sure that I have $500 to drop on that thing...as much as I want it because it is cool and because I feel like it would come in handy, often.
Maybe I'll call the guy and see what condition it is in. If I am lucky, he'll tell me it's already gone so I don't have to worry about it!

"Real men" drove fork lifts in years past, and before the days of OSHA, they didn't know what a protective cage was. I'll bet that forklift dates to the 1950's. Still, if it doesn't leak, and the engine runs good, and you deal with heavy things any at all, it can be real useful.

Might have been before the overhead cages became popular. Would certainly bother me if I was doing lots of up high stuff or driving on uneven terrain a lot.
Looks super neat though, when the time comes that I can buy my own forklift ( can't wait!) I'll have to keep my eyes open for one of those things.

You're right...it's just that, I want a lot of things! I have a real problem.
Maybe ten or twelve minutes....
For the price, it is almost guaranteed to have some problems, problems which my stupid *** probably will struggle to fix. My budget is not exactly large, either.
I am hoping someone else buys it and saves me the trouble of obsessing over it!

Bull, respectfully, get off your *** and go get that forklift. I've only ever seen one of those in person. Buy it, fix it as you can and use it. You can always surely sell it later, even if you don't fix it. A lot of people would buy it just because it's cute.
another vote to get it. worst case scenario - it's a hopeless mess that you sell for what you got in it or sell for scrap and recoup your money. either way, it's an adventure.
i can think of a thousand uses for my own forklift. not all of them are smashing/breaking things btw.

I would say "no", I just happen to have eight or ten projects to keep me busy.
I got my brother-in-law to bring his company tilt-bed tow truck over to haul mine home. Piece of cake, but keep that cable hooked to the winch when you let it down, 'cause a runaway forklift is a pretty exciting thing to have to dodge. DAMHIK
You can also rent drop-bed equipment trailers at most rental yards. The bed lowers to ground level, and you drive/push/pull the machine in there, and then jack the bed back up between the frame rails.

Sunbelt rents single-axle and tandem-axle drop-deck trailers which are perfect for moving a small forklift. My guess is the forklift weighs about 5,000lbs more or less.
As a second option, call a towing company with a roll-back truck. Being how close it is to your place it shouldn't cost a lot to move with a towing company.

At the current scrap rate, you should almost be able to recoup the cost of the thing at the scrap yard.
Out here in Calif., you could trailer that little unit straight to the metal salvage place and walk away with a check for $175
