I wanted to save room in the new mini machine shop so i came up with a way to mount my wilton vice to my arbor press, I made up a steel plate with angle iron welded to it so it would slide in and out of the 2 inch hole in the front of the arbor press, and a 3/8 blot holds it in place, it work great, if i want to use the press i just slide out the vice and put it on the floor.

That is a slick trick with the vise! Your Mini Machine Shop is amazingly clean and well laid out.

Now you must post some pictures of what you made in your shop!

P.S. - I did a six-year stretch; MM1, Nuclear, Surface. Thank you for your service.

Omphaloskeptic :: Thank you for your service also, I was an HT and retired as Chief, As for as what i have made in the new shop, Not much yet still getting it set up, i have a big welding shop 26 X 50 but could not put heat and air in it so i came up with this idea, and the big milling machine was to big to put in the new shop so i bought a new smaller mill. and left the big one in the welding shop.

That is a great idea and looks well executed. The rest of the shop looks very well also. I am also going to offer an unsolicited suggestion, get the abrasive machines away from the precision machines. The ways on the lathe and mill will soon pick up abrasives from the polisher and grinder. The very least is to make some covers for the mill and lathe. Also so many shops you go into have a stripe up the wall behind the chuck. So if any of your momentos are in line they will get hit with stuff. I speak from the mistakes I have made.

Larry g :: I looked at your shop and it is nice and big, I do plan on covering the Mill & lathe, and the grinder & buffer won't get used that much because I have the same set up in the big shop, the grinder in the small shop is only for sharping drill bit and small things, and I think the buffer it going in to the big shop later on, anyway I want to thank everyone for advice and comments.

Hi chief, your mini shop is looking real nice / got to love standing on those wooden floors much better than hard concrete.
