Not tool related obviously, but I bought this thing and it's quickly become my, and my German Sherperd's new favorite toy, so I figured I'd share this purchase with you guys.. You can find this model as low as like $18 shipped from one of the dozen or more listings on Amazon, but this is who "I" decided to buy mine from. It's a JJRC H36 Drone. Showed it to one guy at work, he went onto Amazon and bought it within 2 minutes after I flew it around, and was able to make it hover inside the cab of our work truck.

It's extremely stable and easy to fly. Great toy for the adults or kids if you have any. It has a removable battery which is a huge plus. It's great indoors, almost impossible to break (my dog has caught this mid air multiple times already) and it's strong enough to fly outside on a windless day.. it even has a headless mode and return to home feature on the remote. 6 axis gyro, and with the gyro calibration feature on the remote I haven't even had to mess with the trim settings. 2 speed, low and high response settings too. I'll post a link to the drone, the multi charger and extra batteries I bought, and a video review someone posted on YouTube. Watch the vid on YouTube for remote control instructions since the manual is worthless with its button description.

The multi charger battery deal is pretty great. $14 gets you the charger and 4 more batteries. So with a total of 5 batteries, the fist battery you used is ready to fly again by the time you finish the 5th if you wanna keep going. I haven't had any issues with anything as far as the drone, batteries or charger so far.

This was a great $35 purchase for me and the dog as far as I'm concerned.. I got the black and grey version, but there's blue, orange, and maybe some others..

Here's a video of it -

Jesus 93 views already?? Lol..

Anyway, I promise for $20 you're gonna love it.. battery only last a few minutes, so I suggest getting the charger and spares.. I just gave the dog a 15 minute workout with mine.

This is the drone I have.

I don't have any experience with that particular drone but the cheaper ones I have messed with haven't lasted no more than a couple of days for one reason or another. Crashing obviously would have nothing to do with the drone itself so I'm not considering those being messed up due to crashes. I have been messing with rc helicopters, drones and cars for a few years now.

Pretty good deal for the features that are provided.

My $30 Hubsan X4 here has been going for a few years now...just needs new batteries once in a while. On that note, when your tiny quad tells you that its time to land, land it. Those LiPo batteries don't like being over-discharged and you will likely double or triple their life expectancy if you don't take them down too low before recharging.

As for small quads not lasting, it may have to do with the particular brand. Hubsan has a good reputation and part supply, some others not so much. Just check to see if you can easily buy props, motors, body parts before you buy your own quad.

How long does each battery last? Charge vs flight time.
Is there an option for longer lasting batteries?

I think I get about 5 minutes out of each battery.. and that with flying it in the house, and letting the dog chases it until she catches it or knocks it out of the air.. I pick it up, set it down on my kitchen counter, turn headless mode off, recalibrate the gyro, turn headless mode back on. Take off and fly until the dog gets it again..

I have seriously put this thing through some real torture between the dog and crashing in the house.. to be fair - my dog isn't trying to "destroy" the thing.. she just catches it or knocks it down and waits for me to get it.. that's said - you can hear her teeth "chomp" as she's diving for the thing in mid air trying to get it.

The ducted fan design protects everything very well. I had a nano that was open blade, and it didn't survive the dog more than a few months.. also, it had a non removable battery, so waiting 30 min to fly 5, I didn't use it a whole lot.. with this model though - EVERYTHING is replaceable. And like I said - the removable battery on a drone this size is a huge plus. So it doesn't wind up in the garbage when the battery dies, and I can keep flying for an hour rotataing the batteries off the charger if I keep doing it..

If I made a video of what my dog is doing to this thing, two thing would happen. One - you'd be impressed how durable this little thing is. Two - you'd be rooting for the dog to catch it, cause I keep teasing her with it, and she lives to chase this thing..

It's not a parrot drone by any means - but $35 all in and I don't have to leave my house to have fun with it- and if and when my shepherd deicides she's gonna killl it, I'll just buy another one for $20 (which is the cost of a decent dog toy these days anyway)

Really - watch the video of this I posted from YouTube. You'll see the flight time, and just times that by 5 if you get the other batteries..

Just to post - I'm not the seller of have any affiliation with these sales at all. I have no benefit from the links I posted either.. this is just me telling you guys this is a good toy for the $$$..

I have a couple 4 channel mini or micro helicopters, and they would never survive wha I'm doing to this drone..

I was looking for larger batteries, but I don't know enough about the sizes to really find any.. if you look online - people are adding micro cameras to this model and using goggles to fly the thing around.. so it's obviously an attractive model for the price..

When I bought - I ordered the drone alone first thinking "let me see if this thing ***** before I buy more batteries". I ordered the multi charger and other batteries the day I got the drone.

If anyone orders - post what you think once you get it.. I honestly can't see anyone NOT liking this thing for the money..

Anytime I use it, or crash and pick it up. - set on level surface, turn headless off, recalibrate gyro (right stick down to the left) and set headless back on.. I don't even mess with the trim settings doing that every time.. if you have a hard crash, just look to make sure the little battery didn't shift out of the cradle a bit..

Out of stock - $32 for 5

Take the capacity claims of the "upgraded" batteries with a grain of salt.

It's very common for the capacity claims to be outright lies. The higher the capacity claimed, the more likely that it's actually the very cheapest low-capacity battery.

Eh - for like $14 I can always just order 4 more of the stock size and another charger if need be.. all I know is dog is now OBSESSED with this thing. I can't even touch it without her goin nuts.

Ive had several of the mini drones and gave them as xmas presents a couple years ago. Everyone loves them kids to adults. On the dog thing my Lab absolutely hates the things and tries his hardest to chomp them while in flight. I really wonder if the sound of the blades dont annoy dogs really bad or something.

Mine is just obsessed with playing fetch. Weather it's a tennis ball, a stick, or the drone or RC helicopter.. it's just one more thing to grab in the air..

kytyphoon, I bought one of these along with the extra batteries and charger. A lot of fun. I thought I would fly it in the house around my wife's West Highland White Terrier. Sucker jumped up and snatched it out of the air and crunched it. Wife just said, "well they are bred to kill vermin".
I just ordered another one to fly far away from our dog.
