Mini split AC air purification

Looking around the net I came across this. I suspect it is up there with electronic mosquito repellents but being awfully cynical though I better ask.

Any experience with them and next topic will be UV lights in the mini after I do some more looking around.

Have my doubts about how well it would work. The velocity of the air coming off the supply of the blower and the amount of humidity of the air at that point. Air right off the coil is 100% rh till the air temp climbs. Look at tabletop or console types.

Ozone is bad for your health, My first glance at this makes it look like the classic "sharper image - Ionic Breeze" style ozone air cleaners... they got their pants sued off for those.

It looks like a crappy air purifier that piggypbacks off your mini-split's fan. Anything that reduces airflow over the mini-split (like this) will hurt it. Stay away!

I don't see the downside of trying it. It doesn't appear to block any airflow and sticks with Velcro to the top rear of your idu. And piggy backs off your idu power supply.

I'd try it.

Thanks for the input, the downside to trying it is a couple hundred dollars in the toilet.

I thought it was along the lines of the electronic mosquito repellent, but I have this little thing I carry around that I can talk to people all over the world almost instantly so not always sure about modern technology or what science can create today.

In the meantime I am looking at UV lights for mini's as that seems to be a proven technology.

It does. That's why you clean your filter! AC units are not designed to be operated with dirty filters.

Look at www.topproductinnovations.com for the cold plasma units for air purification. They work a lot better than uv units and have no tubes/bulbs to replace every year. I installed one in each of my HVAC units and have been very pleased with the difference they make in air quality in my house. They have smaller units that would work in mini splits and PTAC units, not just the units for full size HVAC units.
