I'm getting ready to place an order for a LG mini split that will be installed by an AC professional. (He is working afterhours on my install) I'm going with a 20 seer unit and in addition to the interior and exterior unit I have the line set - drain hose and wall mount. I have a 220v 20 amp line dedicated to the install. What else do I need to have everything in place. Disconnect switch?

LG LSU121HSV2 outside
LG LSN121HSV2 inside
Line set / drain / wall mount exterior unit

Will order from AC WHOLESALERS

Thanks

yes, you'll need a disconnect. You don't show where you are from but I presume a non-fused disconnect is all you need. It needs to be located within easy access of the device. Our code also stipulates that you have an electrical out within a certain distance of the outdoor HVAC device (I think it was 15 feet but may have been 30). Presumably, this is so maintenance and installation devices can be plugged in.

Jake, Thanks for the info ---- Is there an advantage to a fused disconnect as I can have it put together either way. Oh I'm in Virginia.

I don't think so. I doubt you get more benefit from a barrel fuse than a breaker. I accidentally purchased fused disconnects for my installation when I didn't need them. They were actually cheaper than the straight through units. I installed them figuring it was no big deal...until I had to buy four $16 fuses (two separate units). doh.

Maybe someone else can chime in here but I don't think the fused disconnect is required. Just a disconnect should do.

Not sure on the disconnects. The NEC does require a service switch within reach of the evaporator. Most people do not install them, myself included. I don't want that ugly switch next to my handsome evaporator.:D

I would suggest that you get a wall mounting bracket and install the unit off the ground, ala, Jake's pictures. You will be happy that you did.
