I got a minisplit and installed my lineset. The lineset is 20 ft. The charge is held in the compressor. I vacuumed my lines and everything is ready to release the charge into the lineset. The instructions say that pre charge length is 25ft. It also shows how much extra charge per foot for anything over 25ft. What it doesn't say is whether any charge needs to be evacuated if the lineset is under 25ft. Do I need to worry about having too much refrigerant at 20ft? Its a gree VIR30HP230V1B. I can't post a link to the instructions since I'm a newb. So do I run it or worry about too much refrigerant? Thanks in advance!

I installed my mini split and had asked the same question that you have, i used less than 20' of lineset, I used the factory charge (did not make any changes) and I have not had any problems, still running fine today.

Do not worry about it. Theunit can handle the factory charge without a problem. That is why they don’t discuss it.

There's no need to remove any refrigerant. You'll be fine with the factory charge. Not to sound insulting, but did you perform a leak check before you evacuated it?
