Mini split for 2 garages?

So I am completing my detached pole barn that is insulated and drywalled. I was looking at putting a mini split in there, as well as my old attached garage I will be converting to a "play room". So one garage is about 700 sq ft, and the other about 500 sq ft. I was wondering would it be possible to run one outdoor unit, and have 2 zones (2 indoor units, one for each garage)? It seems feasible to me, however, how would I get the refrigerant lines over to the detached garage in the back yard. Could I dig a trench and bury the lines? Would I need to put them in some form of pvc, etc? Or would I be better off just running 2 separate systems? I know some have some line distance requirements, mine seems to be cutting it close at a distance of roughly 50-60ft away from where the outdoor unit would be... Thoughts?

For this unit, it looks like 35' is the max distance... http://www.alpinehomeair.com/viewproduct.cfm?productID=453069549

Ironically enough I actually bookmarked that one yesterday. I'm no expert, but figured if I only had to run 1 setup for both unconditioned spaces (Existing Home uses gas baseboard heat with window units, and I am not looking at upgrading house, just adding to these 2 spaces). From the tech sheets, looks totally doable, I just don't know the implications of running it underground, if any?

I agree with you. I would run conduit if you can, but remember conduit corners are an issue with the lines.
