In an effort to not hijack Mike Taylor's thread on a mini split install in the Dallas area I elected to start another thread showing my install of two Mitsubishi systems in my 72'x54' shop. So far the installation has been straight forward. I have a professional scheduled to start the systems for me on Friday.

Each system is 36,000 BTU.

Looks good. Where did you get your equipment? Did you have any trouble getting a contractor to work with you on the start up?

I bought the systems from eComfort. They were good to deal with and very helpful. Finding a contactor to do the final connections start up was interesting. Most companies I called refused to do the work since they did not buy the equipment or do the installation. eComfort gave me contacts to a bunch on contractors that were more than will to do the final plumbing connections and startup

Installs look good, very straight forward. With my ceiling cassette in progress I can now appreciate the simplicity of a wall mounted unit. That is a huge space you are cooling. What did you have for wall insulation? I assume your roll up doors are insulated and seal up well?

The walls of my shop are insulated with 6" vinyl faced fiberglass insulation with an R value of 19. The roof has 2" of polystyrene (Styrofoam) and 6" vinyl faced fiberglass insulation.

My door is a 12'x12' insulated panel door. I added a rubber seal to the top of the door and the side seal up really well. Without the mini-splits the temperature never got much above 80 degrees in the summer and in the winter it would get to 45 degrees. Hopefully with the mini-splits I can keep the temps in the 75 degree range and reduce the humidity.

Could you PM me the name of the contractor you are using for the charge/startup? I'm in N-DFW and looking to do the same with a 12K mini-split. Or better yet, let me know who it was once it is running well!

I noticed you have the longer 8-10ft lengths of line set covers. Looks much better than the multiple 3ft sections that they sell online. Did you also insulate your liquid line?

I also purchased the "Line-Hide" from eComfort. The straight pieces come in 6.5' lengths. I'm unsure which line is the "liquid line" but regardless both of my lines are insulated there full length.

Great info and job. I may have to go with Ecomfort since they will refer someone. I was quoted 6k for a two done unit and install. No lube included either!

By the way do I spy a little GTO Judge fender action in that one shot? My first car was a 1970 Lemans that I helped my neighbor paint and then two years later purchased from him. He also had a Orange 69 Judge. I loved that car!

Yes, that is my Judge. I've been a Pontiac guy since high school but love all muscle cars.

I got the mini-splits up and running today. I was amazed at how fast they cooled down the 3,900 sf area. Its 100 degree today and the inside of my shop is at 70 degree. The contractor I hired to complete the copper connection, vacuum test, nitrogen purge and start the systems up did a great job.
