Mini split is finally happening! Quick question Fellers

I just picked up my 27k Fujitsu Mini Split. Mega excited and I will install this weekend. I have a question I heard that it is not a good idea to have the line sets go up vertically from the evaporator and then back down to the condenser outside. Is this accurate?

My evaporator will be on the wall linesets would go up about 2 ft then run along the attic floor on the far side wall and down to the condenser about 9 feet. Something about the oil needing to go back to the condenser let me know if I'm okay or not

Do you mind sharing how much the set up cost you? I am looking into doing something similar in my shop and I am trying to get ideas as to how much it could be.
Also, I see that you do concrete and asphalt. I may be in the market for both this coming year, would love to give some business to a forum member!

oil return is the concern ,sounds like a short enough line length..that helps...should be info in installation manual...think it is available online

No problem with your setup the lineset is short and the elevation difference is minimal.

Good I think I reread my post and total line length is about 50 feet s9 the 2 foot rise is 45 feet or s9 from condens9r.

Manual show a small rise just away from condesor as a no no which is why I ask. Like a bump in line before going down.

I paid 2000 for 18 seer halcyon Fujitsu. Heats t9 5 below. With an 18k and 9kindoor units

Where did you get a Fujitsu for 2k??? You might be thinking about the drain line that can only slope down

My buddy works for a distributor. It's only a 18 seer machine but still inverter and the -5 degree heat.

I know drain line needs to go down or have a pump but I heard mixed statements about the line set. The oil needs to return to the compressor and my question is if the run is 50 feet and the last 2 feet are a 2 foot rise to get up to level run for 35 feet then a run to go down to compressor is if that will be ok

Lucky *******. That’s still an awesome deal. I have a cheap 12k mr cool and the last ten feet of pipe are coiled like a hose reel. Works fine. I’d think yours with a bigger compressor will not have an issue.

I just installed a triple for my daughter. Make sure you put a toggle at all 4 corners of the mounting brackets. With them the units closed up nicely. Without them I had to remove and re-mount the whole evaporator. Don't be like me!

my lineset is only a total of 12ft, and the I had the same question because mine goes up about 2ft right before going back into the outside unit, my neighbor is a a/c engineer and said that was perfectly fine. mine is 2ton unit, paid $450 new.... 3car garage, warms it up nicely, cant wait till the summer to see how it cools it down.

I just installed a Ramsond (looks identical to the Mitsubishi) 28K mini in my 3-car garage. Got it for $1500 from Home Depot on sale. My contractor installed it and ran all of the lines in the wall for a very clean install. The entire line-set is probably 15' total as inside unit mounts about 12" from the ceiling and then the lines run down the wall and over a couple bays then go out the wall about 18" above the ground to the outside component. Then he is having a Heat/AC guy make the connections, start-up the system and make sure it is all correct.

I've been using the heat function extensively this winter in my 900 square foot basement garage, and it has performed admirably, as has the AC portion in the summer. Money well spent.

I am pretty excited. It's been 4 years building and I have said each winter I won't go through another winter freezing in there which keeps me from finishing it blah blah blah.

Anyway i have spray foam set for next Friday and after this Tuesday we have 10 days where it isn't suppose to get above freezing. So hopefully it's all working by friday.

where in tarnation did you get a 2 ton for 450 new? what brand
