I'm working on a garage conversion, unfortunately from a garage to a bedroom! I have the inside walls open, 2x6 studs. There will be a mini split installed and I would like to hide the line set.

Was thinking of using 3 or 4 " pvc pipe with the longest elbows I can fit inside the wall. Run from the inside unit, down the wall and out near the outside unit. pull / push the copper lines and power wiring into place then seal both ends with expanding foam.

My question: would you expect any issues with bending the copper lines without kinking (I think the will be 1/4and 3/8" type L) by pulling/pushing into place?

Every time you bend soft copper it annuals and work hardens. It happens in a hurry and is always a surprise, at least to me. With the wall open I do not see why you need to sleeve the tubing. I will drill the framing to easily handle the OD of the insulated line. Pull the insulation, put a spring bender on it and slide the bender from point to point. Then the biggest pitn is putting the insulation back on, but at least you know your tubing is not restricted. Firmly the insulation making sure there are no gaps. Otherwise it will sweat. Insulated your drain as well.

Cut the line. Flare it. Install proper 90° elbows. Re-insulate.

If you don't want to buy the proper flaring tool (like a Yellow Jacket 60278 - Amazon $100) then hire the same HVAC guy who is going to vacuum/pressure test your system to install the elbows.

best thing to do (what we do at work) is to mount the indoor unit on one pce of drywall.make all your indoor connections and have the wire, drain and lineset roughed in to the outdoor unit location.wrap the leave the plastic cover off the indoor unit and wrap the "inards" in plastic and tape.after the mudding and painting is done install the plastic cover and your good to go.
