When building my shop I ran a line set through the walls for a mini split. I ran a line set with 1/4" and 3/8" lines. I purchased a 24,000 BTU mini split recently and the line set it came with has 3/8" and 3/4" lines. What will be the impact of using the line set already installed in my walls?

Thanks!

I have no first hand , solid info for you . I do think you must use the required larger tubing or your headed for bad performance/ problems down the road . I'm sure you'll have an answer pretty quick .

You will have greatly reduced performance and efficiency, with a likely reduction in equipment life. The lines you ran are rally only appropriate for a small system <9,000 BTU.

You will have to run a 3/4" line.

I have never seen a mini-split that works with 3/8" and 3/4" lines and I've been doing this for ~12 years, so I'm very curious, what brand/model did you purchase ?!

Lower end 12000 BTU mini-split heatpumps still work on 1/4-3/8. Heck, there's a 18k model I sell that works on 1/4 and 3/8 ! o_O

It is a Senville, model SENL-24CD-16.

3/8" and 3/4" seems like overkill to me, but I did mess up when I installed such small lines.
