I have a 800 sq ft wood shop that I am installing a mini split in.
The room is 20 x 40 and one of the 20 ft walls is facing west.
So I am wondering, do I hang the interior unit on the opposing 20 ft wall
and try to blow across the 40 ft, or should I put it in the center of the
40 ft wall ?

I am wondering if the fan is strong enough to reach across the 40 ft.

Also I have 12 ft walls and wondering about mounting height. If anybody has any experience with similar conditions I would appreciate your comments.
Thanks

I would put it in the middle of the 40' wall. I think that will give you the best air circulation...unless there is something which will influence the circulation from some other direction.

I talked with a hvac guy today and he said center of 40 ft wall also. So I guess I will go with that. Forgot to ask him about mounting height for 12 ft ceiling.

You would be a lot happier on with 2 air handlers, but I understand the cost issue. If not, you are going to need 1 or more fans.

Still going to need an auxiallary fan.

I think it would do ok at 40 ft, in a big open room it would probably circulate the entire room without an issue. If its a problem, throw in a ceiling fan. No need for additional sources of hvac in an open room IMO.

If its a woodshop, you could install a central vacuum system and simply put the output of the vacuum directed near the intake of the split, this way it would **** air from all over the shop and send it right to your minisplit.

Check whichever manuf spec for evaporator height limits. It is likely a max of 8'. If you put it to high it will be sensing stratified air temps. The actual room thermostat is mounted in the evaporator.

Fujitsu and I assume others have pretty powerful fans. They also have have vents that move up and down and/or side to side to sweep the conditioned air all over the room. Be sure to keep an eye on the filters in unit in a dusty shop

Thanks for the replies.
I wonder if I could power up just the blower motor before I permanently mount it.
Here are some pics of the area I am dealing with.
