I have a 24’x36’x12’ tall insulated garage in central Indiana with a 2 ton, 24,000 btu min-split. it doesn’t even break a sweat. Keeps it cool and dry all summer and warm in the winter. Now, I barely open the garage doors, but when I do it recovers very quickly.

i could have gotten by easily with an 18,000 btu unit.

Would a mini-split heat and cool a 40x64x14 insulated pole building?
It'll be 102 tomorrow. I have a 40x56x16. 2 x 24k BTU will cool that building if I manage to turn the AC on in advance. I'm old, I've been running the AC in the shop for the last 3-4 days.

Insulation is the primary factor though, I'm at about R12-R15, not outstanding... And have with 3 leaky big-*** doors.

Funny thing is, if it gets down below 25 degrees, I can't heat it because my Daikin splits were not designed for cold weather operation!

I have a 2 and 3 ton unit in my 30x40x18 garage (extra cooling is to rapidly add back cold air after opening garage door/brining in hot car) and today I had it set lower than I normally do on accident. It was a 100+ day today and my garage was at 76 in the late afternoon (garage was unused during the day). That is with one insulated double garage door, one insulated roll-up garage door and one man door and 2 inches of closed cell foam on the walls/ceiling.
