My garage is currently being built. It will be wood construction 22 x 24, with 16 foot walls. I plan on using 12” batt insulation in the ceiling, with an attic, and 8 inch batt in the walls. I’m in St. Petersburg, Florida. I’m hoping to find someone with actual experience on a similar building, to figure out what size I should get. I’m hoping to be able to cool it 20 degrees below the outside temperature. I only cool it when I’m working out there, so some days I may go out there at 2:00 in the afternoon and try to cool the place down.

I have a 24x24 w/10’ ceilings. Well insulated in eastern NC. I have a 18000 btu 18 SEER Blueridge mini split. Little over sized but it doesn’t struggle. I keep it on 81 in the summer until I need to use it then I bump it down to 75 or so. When it gets colder I turn it to heat and leave it on 64 . I really use it to keep the humidity down for my exotic wood . It stays on 24/7 365. My light bill isn’t affected too bad.

I just went on Alpine home air website and entered my zip code and answered some questions . Ordered it and installed it myself except for the lineset cut , flare and pull vacuum, I paid a local guy $200 and he did it for me as a 1 hour side job at lunch.
