Mini split sizing for basement

I've been contemplating installing another split, this time in my unfinished basement work shop. I'm having an issue coming up with the sizing as it doesn't seem to fit any load calculators I've found. The basement is 1056 sq feet with 9 foot ceiling and has a single north facing walkout wall with a man door, 1 window and a slider window. This 48 foot wall is concrete block with brick veneer and no insulation. The other three walls are pretty much underground. Is there any rule of thumb for sizing for a basement? This in western North Carolina in the foothills so we get some cold and snow.

I have almost the same situation. In NE TN. Walls are mostly underground with the walk out wall having 2 insulated garage doors and a man door. One small single hung window. Also 9' ceilings and about 1,100 sq ft. Walk out wall is facing SW and block/brick about 34' long. I don't want to keep mine like I do the house, but it would be nice to knock the chill off and the summer heat, although it stays between 55-85 most of the time. I was going to wing it and put about 18,000 BTU in. I have thought about a mini split too so I will be following along without anymore hijacking. :)

You design the three walls at 55 degree temp and you do the block with prevailing .. using masonry at 0R.

You should insulate that wall with something -- just to get a thermal break. My guess it would be fine with a 12
