Hello everyone, I am trying to size out and get a brand recommendation for a mini-split for my workshop.

I am thinking 12k and 18k.

It is 25x25 main work area, 16x25 storage room. 10ft ceiling.
Pretty well insulated. R11 in all walls, covered with particle board. R13 in ceiling.
One roll up door has 1” foam insulation in it(12x8), one does not (in storage area(12x8) I plan to do the same to this one.
There is an attic.

Other than freezing and humidity in the storage, I don’t care about how warm or cool it is. I keep my tractor, a few lawn mowers, and my steam cleaner(in the winter) in there.

I am in Mid Mississippi, so humidity is high along with high 90s in the late spring to early fall times.

I have an 8k window unit in there I use when out there and run a few hours a do in the warm weather to keep humidity decent.

The two rooms are separated by a personal entry door.

Ive almost bought a separate dehumidifier for the colder times to keep it down.

So, to be clear... you just want a mini-split to knock down temps/humidity every now and then? If that the case I (personally) would just keep what you have and avoid the hassle/costs, but its your party.

My shop is about 24x28 with insulated walls/attic. I installed a 24k MR. Cool DIY unit and can keep it as comfortable as the house all times of the year if I choose. Technically its slightly oversized but is can throttle itself as required and I wanted quick recovery time after opening garage doors.

Sort of. I obviously want it to temp when I am out there working. Few days a week. I also technically dont have a heater at all right now. I’m using a 3 brick propane hooked to a gas grill bottle. It works, but not optimum of course.

I would like humidity to be down. It’s pretty humid here in the summer.

The 8k window unit will not keep up when I am out there.

I think this is your first problem. Are you trying to cool both rooms with one unit?

No, but would like to keep the humidity down in the separate storage room, and keep it above freezing. I usually leave the door open just a little to keep it from freezing.

I only work in the 25x25.
