mini split vendor / brand questions

1. they claim that perfect aire and mr. cool are both made from the same factory...midea in china - perhaps the same model with different badges...does anyone know?

2. he recommended Perfect Aire b/c they have a longer warranty - I am always suspect when someone strongly recommends something over another thing that is pretty much identical...like a quickback from mfg to push that brand/model? - do people know Perfect Aire - are they equivalent to Mr. Cool

3. last, has anyone had experience with hvacdirect.com? good? bad?

I can't answer any of the three, but will offer this. Having been in the industry for a long time I have seen countless "brands" disappear over relatively short periods. Mini-split manuf change and develop products so quickly for the international market (the US being a very small market still) that it fairly makes your head spin. I can't say there is anything wrong with either brand but I think your after purchase support will be better with one of the major brands, Mitsu, Fujitsu, Daikin and I suppose we can add Free to that now. The suppliers sill say that "they" will provide warranty support, but I don't see how that can be done. Good luck with your system.
