Mini-splits for zone heating and cooling?

We have a heat pump on its way out and isn't worth repairing. We are going to run it till it completely dies. Instead of replacing it we thought about going with several mini-splits to do true zone heating and cooling.

The area we are trying to condition is 60 x 28 broken up into a bathroom, two bedrooms and a living room. The bath splits the two bedrooms and the living room runs from outside wall to outside wall. So installation shouldn't be a problem.

Has anyone used mini-splits in their home? How about in this fashion?

I represent Fujitsu, so bias noted. You need a good load calc done. You can find one at Fujitsu's web-site. You are thinking correctly, btw. I tore out a ducted system and went mini-splits on my home. Look at the Fujitsu HFI system. 4ton condensing unit and you can connect load from as low as 39kbtu up to 62kbtu. In a large room, and I'm guessing on the lay-out, you will be better off with two smaller evap rather than one large. Better circ of air.
