9 year old girls in China have a right to make a living just like you and I.
Just in case there is not some sarcasm there-
That is the problem with that reasoning.
Eventually, people in developed countries will be making the same amount of money per hour as the proverbial little girl in China.
That is the only way businesses will be able to be competitive, pay the CEO's their millions (even when they fail) and satisfy Wall Street expectations.
Every time we choose to buy something made there we are raising their standard of living and lowering ours. At first, there may be a choice between a domestic or imported product, but eventually the domestic manufacturer goes under or outsources to maintain a price point.
Eventually, Irwin may stop making their Vice Grip brand pliers in the USA (or entirely) because too many choose the slightly cheaper imported knockoff. The only way a manufacturer can keep prices low is quantity. If you lose market share, quantity goes down.
Then the stores raise the price on the junk because there is no longer a choice.
It matters where something is made.
