I'm installing electric in my barn, commercial. Need to know the minimum height for the breaker panel off the finished floor. Please quote NEC code requirement. :lol_hitti

There is no minimum code requirement. Switchgear, user cabinets, MDP's, and large panelboards are more often than not placed right on the floor.

If this is an actual commercial installation, I believe most jurisdictions require a licensed electrician to do the work. The average diy'er is usually limited to only doing work in their home.

Article 404.8 of the NEC says switches, and circuit breakers used as switches, shall be installed so the center of the grip of the operating handle of the switch or circuit breaker, when in its highest position, is not more than 6 ft 7 in. above the floor, but as mentioned there's no minimum height requirement.

Single phase 220 volt. You do not need a licensed electrician for barn wiring in TN where I'm located.

Most places do not require that you do use a licensed electrician. Typically they will require a permit and inspection. The power company may not hook up if you do not have a stamped inspection report.

In some areas, they may require 2 inspection, rough and finished. Of course your barn can start out small. Load center (breaker panel) and a couple of outlets. You can add the rest "at a later date". :D
