My daughter recently purchased a D.R. Horton production home near Portland Oregon. It is a 4 bedroom and has an upstairs and a downstairs Mitsubishi minisplit.
The upstairs unit is leaking condensate down the walls, she has learned this is a common problem via discussions with neighbors. I took a quick look at it and it looks like there is a condensate pump in the attic, at least that is what other neighbors have advised, and they fail on a regular basis.
On these units, how is the demand to run the pump sensed? At the unit or at the pump? Looks like perhaps the unit has either a control circuit for the pump, or perhaps is low voltage feed to operate pump?
Builder has been little help, and has already spent lots of time and money trying to remedy distribution issues in the homes, with little satisfaction from owners, so I really do not know long term resolutions. Next time I visit I will take a better look, but for now trying to determine what I am up against. I am familiar with float sensing type pumps, but in this case, assuming it is in the attic, it is uphill flow.
