Minisplit Disconnect Question

Hello,

I’m wiring for a MR.Cool 12k btu 110 volt system. I ran 12 gauge THWN from the main panel (20 AMP gfci/arc fault breaker) to a disconnect, then from disconnect to where the condenser will be.

The disconnect is a Square D non-fused 60 amp (setup for 240 volt so two lines in/out on the switch). I will connect both ground wires to the ground bar; and the hot wires to one side of the switch.

Do I connect the neutral wires to the other side of the switch? Use a wire nut to connect them directly together? Wire to ground?

Not sure what to do with neutral. Thanks!

Since you have 2 poles I would break both the hot and the neutral using the knives on the disconnect. Make the ground a continuous path home, with wire nuts, etc, bonding to the box along the way.

Also a good idea to label interior and exterior with 120vac just because in 2 years we all forget :)

It’s not a problem to have neutral switched off when the hot wire is switched off? I found a number of sites in a Google search that suggested not to do that, but the context was not exactly the same. Thanks!

Yes u can switch the neutral/grounded conductor ONLY if the hot/ungrounded conductor(s) is(are) switched at the same time.
