Minor?!
Some serious tool **** there. Good job.

thieltech,
I saw your surface grinder resto here and on owwm so I knew to check out this thread. I've been working with and restoring machines for years, but I have never seen restorations like yours.
-How do you get your bare/non-painted parts so clean?
-How did you reproduce the speed/feed plates?
Thanks for posting. This thread and your last surface grinder thread are both incredible.
Did you dress up the ways?
I had the ways reground on an Atlas 10x24, but that was a very simple project compared to V-ways of the size of your Sheldon!
Nice job. Makes me wonder what you consider to be a "Major" rebuild.

That's a lot of detailed pics.
WOW, that is a damn nice job! I'm now going to check out your Covel thread too!
I'd love to go to this extent on my little Rockwell 11" lathe some day, for now it's been torn down into it's sub-assemblies, washed, and will be going back together with new belts, etc. The full tear-down and paint will have to wait for some day when I have more time and another lathe so that I won't be missing it while it's apart.
Do you have a thread for other shop projects? Or a website showing the fabrication you do?
-Eric
Holy **** Thiel, that's without a doubt some of the very best restoration I've ever seen. But I have to ask - how you organize pictures, is that a cruel joke or what??.![]()
I "liked" your Facebook page, and then had to control myself to keep from "liking" every damn post you ever made![emoji14]You do beautiful work! Have you done a shop tour at all? I'd be interested in seeing one. How many VFD's are you running now? Lathe, 2 in the Covel, belt grinder, drill-press, not sure about the BP?

they are great machines ! very very well built ! 4000lbs well built lol
any pics of the one u worked on ??
I can't speak for everyone, but I know what I'm seeing. It's not a step by step how-to, just some ******** machine-****![emoji14]I guess I just don't see the point of posting endless photos from a library file without a word about what we are seeing or what's going on.
