Hello Mr Thiel,
You have my dream lathe. I've been looking for a Sheldon R-15
or R-17 x 40 for several years. But I always just miss the few
deals that come around. I really enjoyed your meticulous, quality
restoration and the photos of your assembly (back when I could
still see them). I also enjoyed your threads over at OWWM.
Thank you for sharing!
But as badly as I want to see your photos, I will not be jumping
through any hoops to view them on Photobucket. Please don't
take this as a criticism of you or your decision to use an outside
service to hotlink your photos but...
#1) My browser is Brave and my search site is DuckDuckGo. This
gives as much web anonymity as can be expected. I boycott Google
products and "services" due to their spying habits and Leftist political
affiliations. What a comforting combo! I do not like or use Mozilla
Firefox. By definition, web sites should work on all computers,
devices, browsers and from all locations. If I must install a special
browser or plugin to see a web page, then the site is broken and
not my browser.
#2) Third-party browser extensions are security risks. I never
allow them on my computers.
#3) I boycott Photobucket on general principals, specifically
because it's always been flaky and unreliable, but also because
their business model was an unethical bait-and-switch tactic
from the start: sucker in millions of people with a "free" photo
service, then hold the photos hostage for $400 per year. Profit!
Yeah, great idea Underpants Gnomes. Brilliant.
Granted, I'm the only person on the entire Internet who loathes
Photobucket for all the great forum threads they've ruined over
the past 14 years. But I'm just an old Neanderthal, Knuckle
Dragging, Gun Totin', Curmudgeon.
