I have just purchased the Mr Cool non DIY 18000 mini split for my garage. I have already emailed Mr Cool, but have not received a reply yet, so I thought I would ask you guys. Is there a minimum length the line set can be cut down to. I have read the book and all I can see is maximum lengths. It came with a 16 ft. line set, I have google it and some say 10 ft is the minimum and some say they have shortened it by half and them some say the unit is designed for the full 16 ft. I understand that the unit comes precharged for 16 ft. of line set. I am a Licensed electrical contractor by trade, I also have my EPA 608 certification. I also have all the tools and enough knowledge to properly install, pressure test and vac down this system. I would like to shorten the line set only if it would not interfere with the efficiency of the unit. Thanks in advance.

Doing my due diligence the manufacturers that spec a min length spec 10 feet. If the 10 feet is an issue the line is run in a serpentine fashion behind the outside unit, took me more than 10 feet for the unit I did this way. No reduction in 410a is required.

I'm sure you could adjust the amount of freon in the system to match the lineset length after its installed since you have the equipt to do it.
