Don't quit your day job just yet... the stampings on the older Wiltons is inconsistent at best. Some seem to be date of manufacture. They switched to warranty end date for some models, but seemingly not for others.

Also, every 2" I've seen is cast "Wilton Chicago".. even the ones made long after they moved to Schiller Park. My guess is that the 820 was always low volume, so they continued using the old molds rather than make new ones. Your "3-4" could well be 1954, 1964 or even 1974.

cleaned off some crud to prep for restoring and found a strange date stamp "3-4".possibly a very very faint outline of a 6 after the 4. since 41 was their 1st year, i'm guessing the date is just mis-struck. must be worth a fortune;) anyone else seen something like this?

They are more common then one thinks. Thats a 825 2 1/2" and without the swivel base you might get lucky and get $95-$135 for it. Thats just a guess. Someone with a PowRarm might snag it.

thanks, i was just joking that it was a valuable extra rare mis-struck vise, ala numismatics. i'm not looking to sell, just buy. i was pretty sure for $10 it was a good deal before i took it apart;) still can be turned into a good story though.
