Bought a shallow and deep set if 3/8 Snap-on Sockets off Ebay brand new sealed in the plastic and everything, and the shallow set has a 15mm Flank Drive Xtra 1/4” socket instead of a 3/8 14mm. Anybody else ever have a set you bought come with the wrong sockets? Hopefully my dealer will just swap them seeing how its a brand new socket and actually worth more than a 14mm 3/8.

I had two 12mm sockets in my flank drive extra 1/4" shallow socket set that I bought from my Snap-on dealer. I watched a youtube video where the guy had two 13mm in a similar set.

I'd only ask your dealer to swap if you are a somewhat decent/good customer. And even then, expect to receive some **** from him for buying from eBay instead of him.

It happens. I ordered a metric wrench set from MAC and low and behold one of the wrenches inside was a 12 point and not a 6 point.

This was factory shrink wrapped straight from MAC.

Let us know how that works out. Years ago I bought some golf clubs while on holidays. Showed them to a golf pro I knew from a higher end course thinking he would appreciate the new design. Well it sure didn’t work out that way. Kind of glad that I wasn’t a member at that high brow course and he did manage to forget about my purchase eventually.

Im in pretty good standings with him, ive bought something from him almost everytime i’ve seen him and always have paid with cash. I endes up messaging the Ebay seller and he says he’s going to print me a shipping label and if I send him the 1/4” socket he’ll send me a new 14mm 3/8. He said that he occasionally sees the mis-packaging.

Makes one wonder why brand new Snap On is on eBay, doesn’t it.
I think it’s just bulk purchasing at a discount or something along those lines. Often times because Snap-on charges like $25 bucks for shipping on things under $250, whoever is selling can mark up a item from lets say $100 to like $105, pay like $10 in shipping and still come out profitable.

Don't forget people using the SED to the maximum.

I've seen it from a half dozen brands. It always gives you a second guess but in every case tools were purchased directly from the source or an authorized retailer. Packaging mistakes happen.

Another reason to check everything before you put it away. You don't want to pull the tool out when you expect to use it to only find out its the wrong thing.

It’s not that complicated. My Snap-on guy gives me a huge discount. If I wanted to, I could just buy stuff from him and flip it on eBay at list price.

My Williams impact sockets came with a couple wrong sockets. They made it right but took some time.

Asked my Snap-on guy if he wanted to trade, told him the socket I had was worth more than the one I wanted . He asked where aI bought it and I told him online. Then he told me that he cant do that and “thats why you buy from me and not online.” Reason that I bought online is because my dealer almost never gives discounts. One time I bought a pair of side-cutters and a prybar and was looking at the LN47ACF’s. He didnt have them in the orange handles at the time, so I told him if you give me 10% off these cutters and this prybar, and 10% off those pliers when you get them in I’ll buy them. He said “I’ll make that happen.” Paid for my stuff that day got off the truck and looked down at my receipt and it said the discount for both was $0. A month later, he finally got them and when I mentioned it he said “doesnt sound like something i’d ever say”. I kept pressuring him and he finally gave me the discount, not for the previous purchase, but for the pliers and adapter I bought. He said “10% for the pliers and were good”? And I told him how about 10% for both. He got annoyed but did it. One of many reasons why I buy my stuff elsewhere other than him.

It's frustrating. I switched shops years ago and went from a stellar Snap On guy to a lukewarm one.

It really stinks, my current guy is the only one for probably about 150 miles. I never got to deal with the guy before him but everyone says he was the best dealer out of any truck brand.

Sorry to hear--that *****.

I have a great Snap On guy. I've spent a lot of money with him over the past decade because he is honest, treats me well, and likes to wheel and deal, especially for cash.

Had a 12 point socket mixed in with a set of 6 point US made Williams sockets. They said they'd send out the right one, and have me send the 12 point back. They sent the replacement, and an entire new set in a gigantic box, separately. I told them, and they said just keep it all. So I guess it happens.

Thats awesome, seems like the wheelin and dealin dealers are starting to go away. But glad to hear you have a good one. Ive paid in full with cash for every purchase ive made with my dealer, he hasnt offered me any deals other than what Snap-on says he has to have. He wont even come find me at my shop so I didnt even think he came to the shop the last 2 weeks, and I had something on order from him and he didnt bother. I dont know a single person in any shop that likes him. This summer im probably moving cross country this summer and where I’m going i’ve heard the Snappy guy is pretty good. Unfortunately if I do move its going to be for college so i’ll probably be a broke college student haha.

I got two XSM1112A wrenches in my new, factory shrink-wrapped XSM608A set. My driver swapped one for the missing XSM1314A wrench.
