misprint wrench

The wrench clearly misprint 3/16 for a 3/8 and 1/4 for a 1/2 .the other side has driver printed an number23 . if any one knows anything i would like to know.thank you

Maybe it's whitworth ( english) measured point to point.

I remember reading that old wrenches used to read the size of the shank of a bolt? Might not be true..

I agree, they used to put the bolt size not the head size.

Most likely Whitworth. Fairly common but some might have higher collectors value.

Heh, speaking of misprints. While moving into my new box the other day I noticed my Gearwrench 16mm doesn't have the "1" on the open end. So I have a ratcheting 16mm box end with a "6mm" open end

Whtiworth tools are marked with the stud size, not the across flats size. It could be Whitworth or possibly USS sizing which was used up to 1929 and also used stud size.
