Missing cap or thermo?

I picked up an exhaust fan at an auction. Once I got it home I noticed something was missing. There were two yellow wire with spade connectors (female) leading to a empty plastic "cage/holder" (no cover). When I plugged in the fan nothing happened. When I connected the two yellow wires together the fan turned SLOWLY.

I think it is missing a capacitor, but maybe it was a thermostat. Please help.

Call leeson, if you provide the number off the motor they should be able to tell you what you need.

I really wish manufactures would put capacitor values on the nameplate. Sure would make it easier down the road when the original capacitors are no longer legible.

Should have a "hump" on the outside where the capacitor sits.

That motor has a start winding 5 and 8 but it could be a split phase motor.

Likely a PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor) motor. Try a 5 MFD (or 10 MFD) 370V cap and see how it goes.
