I have a fairly wooded 5 acre property and have had decent success in keeping the 100' grass perimeter around the house tolerable with a pump sprayer and biffen concentrate. I've done as much as I can for eliminating breeding grounds but our property backs to a river and there is seasonal flooding in areas of the woods.

I'm kind of sick of the pump sprayer and interested in the ability for the mist blowers to blast higher up in trees to make some of the trails in the woods better for walking around. Not to mention I don't turn down an opportunity to buy another tool. I was hoping to find a kit to retrofit my redmax backpack blower but it looks like I'm better off buying a mist blower designed for doing what I want. I was looking at the stihl sr450 but the price of invatech italia 868 is very enticing. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with either model or others I should be looking at?

Bumping this because I'm interested too.

I did notice most of the Amazon reviews were positive.

I did see the positive amazon reviews that I take with a grain of salt and some good reviews on youtube. I figured it was worth a shot getting input from strangers online in a familiar place lol. My wife told me to buy one as a wedding anniversary gift for myself. I'm just waiting to pull the trigger till I figure out what her "gift" will cost.

Are you trying to enjoy an outdoor patio or similar?

A buddy of mine uses a couple fans set up And it works perfect. The mosquitos can’t fly well through the wind I guess.

5 years and 2 kids under 5 made me a quick learner

I'm able to keep the yard decent with the biffen and pump sprayer. But if I had a blower I'm thinking the hour to spray the yard can be cut down considerably and I'll be more likely to stay up on it.

I have a pipe dream of being able to go to my range or walk the trail in the property with the kids or run it without loading up on bug spray. I know better than to expect that though.

You are fighting nature. You will lose.

I already consider our ability to play in the yard a win compared to before I started treating. I'm just looking for a better tool.

Those misters work really well, you really can make a difference with one. I use one on the back of a Ranger, I tried a lot of different things and that is one thing that does work.

My buddy let me borrow his Stihl, he lives on the river and always battled mosquitoes in the past. He was able to buy commercial products online w/o an issue. He had nothing but good things to say about the pest control, and said he maybe only had 1-2 bites all summer, while other neighbors complained about the bugs all summer.

You need to be pretty strong to handle the Stihl when it's full, as it is a handful to get up on your back. I am 6'2" and looked like an idiot trying to get it from the ground onto my back. So I set it on a 4' step ladder first, then put it on my back. It def broadcasted a lot of spray quickly, and would be able to cover A LOT more ground then any pump sprayer.

Fans in the backyard should be enough. Mosquito control chemicals kills all the good bugs to which affects the entire food chain.

It’s critical to use the proper dose and frequency........more is NOT better.
It’s also the reason some states or locals control the sale of the chemicals.
Chemical grade respirator for the person spraying is also critical. This is not the typical safety is for sissies thing.
