How do you guys store your miter saw? I am looking for a way to get it up of the ground but not have the stand set up all the time. Any innovative ways of storing a 12" double bevel saw?

I'm working in a very small 2-car garage and also have a compound miter saw to store. I have mine mounted to a stand on wheels and just move it out of the way when I need to. One thing I did do though is I made a shelf within the bottom of the stand which holds my 13 gallon compressor. So at least these 2 pieces only take up one space.

I too would love to see other ideas. Good luck.

I use the ridgid mobile stand. It folds up into a dolly kinda and only takes up about 2-3 sq ft of room with the saw on it. I only have a 10" slider though, so it's not as big as the 12".

I made a stand that becomes an extension of my radial arm saw....
With the two together, I can put some really long pieces of wood on it without them tipping over....both share a common rip fence....

As soon as my new garage is finished, I'm dumping the stand that my radial arm saw is on and making a built in lower cabinet that will hold both the radial and miter saws...and have storage drawers underneath.

This is a pic of what I have now....

I like the mobile cart idea. I modified a mobile cabinet for mine. I keep it in a
corner most of the time, but can roll it out when necessary for long boards
or large projects.

If I had the wall space, I'd hang it from pins on the wall. I built a knock down stand that I can put on saw horses or, what I had planned on doing is using door hinges to make some triangles that can fold out from the wall to set it on, yet they can be folded away for more space.

My current problem is that any horizontal surface attracts stuff so fast..... ADHD and no sense of time or how long something takes to get done contributes to the problem.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I ended up just getting 2 large shelf brackets and not putting a top on them. The distance between the feet of the saw is just about perfect to settle in on the brackets set 16" apart.

I am not in the market for this type of set up but if you have the space for a bench like the one on the Handyman Mag you could incorporate the platform for the saw with a sturdy piano hinge that will allow for the saw to be folded down when not in use but still be quickly accessible by raising the table and inserting two pins to hold it in place. When folded down you could simply have a top plate to give a full length platform for long objects.

This set up is no longer being made but I like the idea and am considering a similar "home built" setup

google Tool Dock for better pics

If you have a table saw also you can make a "box" like cart that holds/store it, with removable counter top like top that hold your miter saw also and protect you table saw.
