The 12" Sliding Double Bevel Miter Saw from Harbor Freight gets VERY good reviews, on the wood workers forums. I know someone who has one and he loves it. It is on sale right now as well for $129.99 Per the ad I received today, I don't believe it COMES with a blade. https://www.harborfreight.com/12-in...-miter-saw-with-laser-guide-system-61969.html

I have the same saw, it works great. Mine did come with a blade, but its not that great, I'd recommend getting a good quality blade. I use Diablo blades, they're made by Freud one of the big name brand companies that make woodworking saw blades.

The negative (not exactly a huge problem for me though) is the location of the laser makes it useless after a few cuts as it gets covered in sawdust making the laser disappear. I have an Irwin arbor mounted laser on my 10" Harbor Freight Sliding compound miter saw and that's the way I'd go if I needed a laser...I have yet to purchase one for the 12" saw though.

Hey Ryan how do you like the LS1016? I am looking at the LS1019L....

I have one (10"), had it since 2012. Its a awesome saw, tons of capacity, very precise, pretty tough. Only had a few issues, minor adjustment stuff.

Unless you are finding a really good deal, you should definitely check out the brand new version- Fixed sliders, way better dust collection.

Cant go wrong either way, but I would say that the Dewalt w/ shadow line would sway me if the price was right.

I'm not too worried about minor adjustments as long as the build quality is there. Looked at some of the saws at the big box stores and was far less than impressed as far a quality was concerned.

The Makita LS1019L seems to the top contender. I like the compact size. The Bosch is nice but read too many complaints about runout issues and lack of adjustability. My only issue with the Make is that no one locally (within a reasonable distance) has one I can check out.

Acmetools.com has the best prices around on the Makita. My 22 year old B&D Industrial 12" compound saw is just flat out worn out and I am about to build new cabinets for my garage.

I have a pretty basic Ridgid 10" which is fine although it does have limitations not being the latest dual bevel model. It was a Christmas gift from the family so i don't want to be overly critical. It makes accurate cuts and works great with PT or other heavy woods.

Ended up pulling the trigger on the Makita LS1019L today from Acme. Main reasons:

1. Capacity
2. Compact footprint
4. Dust Collection
3. Quality
