Well my tool shop miter saw finally gave up on me and I was wondering what miter saws you use and recommend but it also needs to be a sliding miter. I don't use it enough to be spending $600 on one but I don't want the cheapest one ether. Any help would be great! I was thinking around $200-$300 would be in my budget it dosent need to be super fancy just accurate. Thanks in advance!

Used Bosch 5312? Been pretty happy with mine. Would like to upgrade to the DB Glide at some point.

had my Makita 10" SCMS for almost 10 yrs. was expensive (at the time) but well worth it. beats the heck out of a RAS any day...

for day to day work (like deck boards and stuff) a cheapo yard sale delta 10" chop mitre saw fits the bill. aluminum base is lighter to move than my old craftsman cast iron chop saw...

No less then 10 post in the last month about this very topic.

Search> "miter saw"> Title only > General Tool Discussion = relevant results.

Figure out what you need vs want. Get some model #s, then come back and ask specifics.

I had this dilemma come up in April. I was checking every flyer possible for the best deals, my price range for a new unit was $500-650. I also wanted a stand if possible.

After much debating and realizing that I'm no professional woodworker, I started searching a site similar to Craigslist. I located a Dewalt saw and stand for $250 and bought a couple of various blades. I'm happy.

If I had to make living with my tools, I'd go with Milwaukee.
