Just installed (3) 36,000 M series Mitsubishi mini-splits in my 40x104x18 shop. I had the installer (who was an amazing company to deal with) install kumo cloud devices on all three units.

Hand held remotes allow you to take the heat down to 61* which was not ideal, but I was going to deal with it. The kumo app allows me to take the set point down to 50*, which is where I wanted to keep the set point. I am hoping this will even help to payback for the added cost.

Other niceties are the ability to remotely see the temp at each unit and adjust them if desired. Set programmed time change adjustments and switch from heat to AC or vice versa.

Well worth the added cost to add the Kumo Clouds!

So you are saying that the device you use to control the temperature dictates how low you can set it? Seems odd and annoying...

I assume when you open the app, you can see and control all 3 units?

Can you program them using the app? Like typical programmable thermostat functionality?

The hand held remotes which come with the units limit you to 61* as a low set point for the heat. The Kumo Cloud allows you to take them down to 50*.

Yes, open the app and you can control any one of the units individually or control them as one large unit.

Yes, you can program each unit individually, just as you would a programmable thermostat.

Cool. Good to know. How expensive was it to upgrade to kumo?

The remotes that comes with the mitsubishi actually will let you set the heat to 50F, via smart set function, however, it's either 50, or 61 or more, nothing in between.

If you either upgrade to the external thermostat or kumo, then you can set a big range of temperature.

What would be really cool is if you can use one external thermostat on the wall and the 3 units can do their own thing, I don't think that's possible to use one thermostat to control multiple head unit / condensers

You are the first person I have heard of to use mini-split in a large open space ! 3 is an odd number for that space. I would have guessed 4, but if 3 do the job that that is a cost savings.

You did not mention where you are located. Not all of the M-series mini-splits are "High Efficiency Hyper Heat" and loose quite a bit of heating capability below 32F.

I am in Southern Maryland. The building has R-21 in the walls and R-38 blown in the ceiling. The plan is to keep it 50* in the winter and 78* ish in the summer.

The Kumo Clouds cost me about $150 each installed. I can independently control each or control all three units. So far they have been amazing units and love being able to remotely see the temp at each unit when I am 1000 miles away!
