Ordered, thanks OP!

I've been watching the version with the ratchet stop, model no. 293-340 for the better part of a year now, waiting for it drop from $140-$160. For $79 I'll gladly take the ratchet thimble!

Thanks!! This is a killer deal. The P/N matches a 0-1" so that's what we'll probably get vs. the one in the picture.

Take the batteries out if not using regularly. Mine kills batteries quickly, not supposed to but it does.

^^ that is strange re: batteries... I have Mit electronic calipers at home and also in the machine shop, and I haven't had a battery die yet... The mic shouldn't be any different

My 6" calipers will keep batteries alive for 12-24 months. My 12" caliper uses two batts and kills them in a few months time just sitting in the case. It does shut down the display as it should. The batts aren't that expensive but it gets expensive replacing 2 at a time just for a few readings and then putting it away. So I now remove batteries from my 12" caliper and 0-1" mic; I think I have the Quantum mic tho (can't remember). All mentioned calipers are gray Mitutoyo IP66/67

edit: before someone says this is why digitals ****, I got 'em for use in coolant environments and they served me well, paid the bills from that job while I was in school.

My Mit micrometer just showed up. It is the correct 0-1" version (not the 3-4" incorrectly pictured on amazon). It appears to be a fantastic mic. It's also the heaviest little 0-1" mic I've handled (but then again I haven't used a digital one before).

Digital calipers are way better than dial calipers and easier to read than vernier calipers

Although I have more mics than I need, I'm sorry I missed out on this deal I hesitated and they were gone

Got mine in this morning. Looks good, 0-1", heavy, came lubed and sealed in plastic, and comes with a battery, case, and NIST traceable inspection certificate. Absolute steal at $79.

If you're connected to a college or university and have a .edu email address, then prime is free for 6mo or a year depending on the current offer. I just add a new .edu address from my school every time it expires for unlimited prime (a rep told me this was fine).

Well if you got free two day shipping, there's no point in me paying $99 a year for it, is there? I damn well BETTER be getting some value for my Prime membership.

Prime member here too, came in today. That $99 better pay for some benefits:)

Sounds like they hold up orders for non-prime members. Looks like it's time to shop elsewhere.

Amazon's "FREE SuperSaver Shipping" has always been a lower priority when it comes to both shipping and processing. That was the whole point behind it--if you're willing to wait a little longer, they'll give you free shipping.

Obviously, with the advent of Amazon Prime, there are significantly more high priority orders to process, so it makes sense that processing times for the standard free shipping might be even longer than before.

After having a day to screw with it, there's actually one thing I don't like about this mic... there's no on/off switch like there is on my Mitutoyo caliper. It's "auto on, auto off." OK, I appreciate the auto-off, in case I forget, but I'd like to have the option to turn the damn thing off when I store it.

The auto-on is activated by rotating the thimble any little bit at all. Which means, if you have it in a drawer in your machinist's chest, every time you open and close the drawer the mic jostles in the case just enough to activate the damn display again. No wonder people are having battery life issues with it.

I wonder why the electronics in their calipers are so much more efficient. Seems like a design flaw because their calipers last a while even leaving it on.

Been playing with mine(mic), and there is a work around for your issue with the Mic, Use the Lock.
