Mitutoyo Micrometer question

I have recently purchased a Mitutoyo 293-340-30 Digital Micrometer which has the ability to switch between mm and inches however, I did not notice that the analogue section is for inches only.

My question is whether or not this model comes with the option of switching between mm and inches but instead have a metric analogue section.

I've tried to see for myself on their website but the layout is confusing with some pictures being inaccurate.

They're not very forthcoming about that detail, but it looks like the more expensive Quantumike (pictured) # 293-180-30 has dual inch/mm analog laser etched markings. Not sure how I'd like that.

This is also from browsing Mitutoyo USA site. Metric availability probably better in other countries, not sure where you're located.

Thanks for the info.

I will definitely be returning mine to Amazon and will get a Quantumike series since it is much faster and looks the part.

I never use inches for any of my measurements and dont see myself ever having to use it so I'm not sure what model to go for.

Don't need data output capabilities as I only take measurements for my hobby purposes.

That being said, should i just go for the metric unit or the one with inches as well? How can I be sure the one that measures in both units doesn't have an inch analogue section?

Just want to be sure as I don't want to make the same mistake again.

Cheers!

If you are sure you will never need inches readings then get the metric only model. You can always use a calculator to convert mm to inches in the rare occasion you need that.

Agreed. Having both markings on the same tool is aggravating as all hell, whether it's a mic, caliper, feeler gauge, tape measure, rule, etc.

Get a "pure" tool in whatever system you need most often and convert with a calculator if you ever need to.
