Can you guys give some opinions on the Mityvac MV8500. This will be use for diagnostic testing of chainsaws and other small 2 stroke engines. I have a Harbor freight special now that I was using until I stepped on the gauge, I'll use this one for bleeding brakes. I'm also looking at this Sears one. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00914005000P
I think this one is just a re-badged Mityvac anyway.

I just bought a used one from another member on here. Here's a post I started on here about them, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=208979&highlight=mityvac.

The one you link to has a nice feature I couldn't find sold anywhere. It has the bottle that snaps onto the actual gun so it looks to be sturdy then having to have a hose in between the gun and the bottle.

What exactly do you test on small engines with these?

I got one new of eBay for £65 with the fluid tank that locks on to it, it also pressurises as well as vacuums and you get loads of adapters. Does everything from basic vac gauge to fluid transfer and pressurising turbo waste gates etc. mine is the Sykes pickavant version but its made by mityvac.

Chainsaws need both to hold vacuum and pressure. If they don't they will **** air and run lean and burn up. A pressure test will help show witch seal leaks. You can have a saw that will hold one and not the other. You also can use it test pressure carburetors. No vacuum = no fuel.
