Mixing different types of drywall mud

I have 5 minute mud that sets up too fast to do about anything except patch holes.

I also have some 90 minute mud that seemingly takes hours.

I was just about to go buy some 20 minute. But if the difference is just the amount of curing chemical, I could just mix together my 5 minute and 90 minute. Is mixing different types of mud any different from an intermediate one?

If your using using hot mud, just have to have your act together, because it waits for no one. I really prefer to use regular mud as it seems more durable to me.

Mix a cup 50/50 and try it for science.

Best to mix one small pan and time the set per your percentages. Just don't mix premix with rapid set.
(Although I have to make the premix set quicker.)

Also worth mention, as the stuff goes bad, cure times get longer. I like 45 min for the 1st couple passes, but I have enough I can go fairly fast. It's definitely not worth using a faster mix if it sets up on your tools even once.

you can mix 5 & 90 for sure. as far as ratios, not sure if you add 50/50 if you end up with 46.5 .
when I was working full time I used mostly 45 , if I wanted to slow it down I would add premix to it .
