Mixing Your Own Concrete

I poured a helicopter pad using sand, rock and bags of portland cement. I mixed it all by hand with a shovel. It was on a small island so I had to load it all on a 20' speed boat and then unload it and tote it up a cliff or up a steep path from the beach depending which side of the island was rough. I did it all on my own in 90 degree heat with very high humidity. I made it through without dieing (just) so it is possible. Would I do it again? Not if I could just order a truck to deliver it

This summer I plan to finish the basement. First I need to finish my drainage system which will consist of a 9" wide trench for the drain tile. I will need 1.6 yards to patch up the floor when I am done. Unfortunately I don't any way to get a ready mix truck close to the basement.

I called around and nobody rents a small ready mixer on a trailer which would have been perfect. Next week I will be getting sand and gravel delivered.

My dad has a friend that did a 24" x 40' footing with 80lb bags. I offered him my 3.5 cuft mixer but he was happy doing it in a wheel barrow all by himself.
